W. Layton, project update
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:10:56 AM »
As you know, my Combat Commander is inching towards completion at Dave Erickson's bench.  I hope to have it by summer.  I did receive it's carry mate recently though.  It's not a 1911, but it does have carbon fiber scales from the same lot that will be used for the Commander's custom grips.  Instead of taking up more bandwidth, the knife photos are posted here:

William:  Have you ever replaced barrels on any of your 45 ACP's?  If so, what did you use as replacement barrels and where did you buy them?

I'm not William but I just had a Clark bbl and oversized bushing installed in a 1911. Got it all from Brownell's . Very pleased with it. I replaced the main spring and had the slide tightened to the frame .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

For my well ridden used norinco i purchased the new 1911/45acp 5'' barrel from sportsmans guide for $59 and the new national match IAI barrel bushing from CDNN investments. I'm a big spender right?  I did all the fitting myself and its accurate and functions awesome and she shoots one clover leaf per mag no matter who shoots it. And i haven't tightened the slide to frame fit yet.  But soon i will, i have most of the tools now.  CZY
