I was quite fond of an old 1917 S&W which was stolen, may the thief rot in hell. I mostly used the full moon clips but had some half moons also. No idea what brand but they were not expensive, maybe 50 cents each. The full moons are nice for a fast reload but are a bit bulky to carry, two half moons nest together to make a less bulky package and I've heard that was the original reason for them. I never had any problem snapping rounds into the clip but popping out the empties could be a bit hard on the fingers due to sharp case mouths. I made a simple tool for that, just two brass rods set into a short bit of 2x2 pine. I'd insert the shorter of the two rod into a case mouth so that the longer rod rested against the next case and give a twist and the case popped out.
I also used a lot of .45 Auto Rim brass just like any other revolver.

Mine are S&W that work well in the Colt 1917.
And I have both Full and 1/2 Moon.
About 1/2 Doz of each.
The 1/2 Moon clips fit in your front pocket of your jeans or Khaki and allow you to sit.

+1 for the ones Dillon sells, as well as their Super Demooner tool.

ive got steel and plastic moon clips. I use the plastic clips alot at the range because no tool is nessisary but i prefer the steel ones for competition and self defense as the plastic ones are thicker and in some guns can cause a bit of binding. For a set of loading and unloading tools ive tried a few and agree with alacharger that the set dillon sells is hard to beat.

No William, the whole point of the Auto Rim case is that no clips are needed, they load just like any normal revolver cartridge. The rim is extra thick to make up for the absence of the clip. So far as I know only Remington ever made them and I dont' know if they still do. They do require a different shell holder for reloading but I think they are widely available, mine is a Lee. I espically liked the auto rim cartriges for woods roaming, since I could fire a shot or two and replace the fired rounds without having to replace all six.
