I asked the same question on this board once. The best thing I can tell you is that TC doesn't chamber contenders for the 454 because of the pressure involved. You could reload 454 cases to 45 colt specs and probably be ok. Thinking about the risks of injury or worse might be the best thing I could tell you.

Sorry I reread your post. You do have an encore. Why don't you give TC a call. They made it and wil probably tell you to only use the calibers stamped on the barrel

T/C and others will say the same. If the barrel doesn’t say 454 Casull then don’t shoot them in it. Furthermore the vent rib and crud sights will not do justice for accuracy. I have always wondered if you remove the rib, is the barrel drilled and tapped for the normal scope base. I had a 12” 45 Colt/410 bore Encore barrel, but never shot it and sold it off.

I had a T/C Encore factory 15” 454 Casull barrel cut down and re-crown to 12” by SSKIndustries.com and they installed a 6 screw T’SOB base and 3 rings. It wears a T/C 2.5-7x28mm illuminated reticle scope and Pachmyr Decelerator grip and magnum forend.

yooper77,  Sorry, but you only find two holes where you're looking for four.  Alignment and spacing of the two is correct, so you only have to add two more. Hope this helps.

Yup, and if you want open sights, there's only one hole in the front and 2 are needed.  Thought about that with my 45/410 Super 16, but decided to go with a straight 45LC instead.
Can't hardly wait on deer season and the 2016 Presidential Elections...

Thank you, but I already sold it and have no intention on ever buying another.  I have a 454 Casull barrel, so I am set.
