So while the government is doing all these research papers, I am paying for it, because the government has no money and produces nothing, therefore, even though my standard of living is deteriorating, I am better off for it. Maybe if this money had remained in the private sector somebody would have a job and who knows what discoveries would have been made. Meanwhile we head into the vortex of spiraling debt of decimation.

And how many of those are related to gaining the US's independance from foreign fuel sources? Medical technologies? nano science? I would readily maintain the the DOE is a black hole, that has been sucking off of tax money since its inception. They are still batting zero from their designed purpose. Add in how many millions for benefits and retirement. The equation just doesn't work out.

Actually crustafarian, your post makes a very good point. Once a new department is created by the government and finds that it cannot fulfill it's original purpose, it seeks various ways to justify it's very existence. Unlike in a private business where an entity failing to achieve it's goals would quickly be dissolved and it's capital used in more efficient ways.

Don't vote for democrats and republicans.
Both Pauls are conservative Libertarians (running on the republican ticket), i.e. like the old style conservatives, not the newer neocons who, with dems, support the welfare/warfare state

It means that in my state I don't get to vote; maybe in the future.
IMO to vote for the lesser of two evils is still evil.

Gary good answer.  We the American people are losing the elections in the primaries.  But the time we  get to the general elections, both parties put up the worst candidate they can find.  So like you say, we have to choose between two evils.  I can do it anymore.
