Ring Height
« on: December 23, 2003, 01:42:10 PM »
I have an Encore 209x50. Right now I have a Weaver base and a set of Weaver medium height rings attached to a Bushnell 1.75-4x32. I want to upgrade the scope to something like a 3x9x40 Nikon Monarch or a Sightron SII 3x9x42. Will I be able to stick with medium height rings using a scope with a 42 mm objective lens. The rear sight is not a concern as it has already been removed. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have the Warne Maxima base and medium height QD rings on my 209X50.  I have about 1/16" to spare between the objective of my scope and the rear sight.  My scope is a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9X40mm.  You should have ample room without the rear sight in place.

I used to have a Leupold Vari-X II with a 40mm lens on mine with a Weaver Base and Medium Burris Rings.  Seems there was about an 1/8" or more clearance, you should be fine.
