Hand Gonne Contest 2011-Rapid fire 14 Century

Ok here is what I'm working on.

This was my inspiration


Here are my sketches. I'm not much of a draftsman



I gathered up some scraps from my junk pile.


Facing off and boring the barrels



A trial fit of the parts


More to follow I just have to wait for another day off.

Thanks guys. I did a little more before I had to go to work tonight. All that left is drilling the touch holes, finding a tiller and a polish of the bores. I think I will leave it banged up a bit  it makes it look older.

So, you can load all three barrels but you have to prime each barrel just before shooting.  Correct?

That is correct. I thought about a sliding cover that would keep powder in the pan but. I did not want to get too fancy.

The stain is a 50/50 mix of Mahogany and Walnut, topped off with Linseed Oil

15th century percussion, huh?  I thought percussion was invented by Reverend Forsyth in the 1815 era.  Fun but illogical.  Percussion nipples must have been added by some 19th century owner.

I ran across that Percussion one too, when I was looking for ideas. I'm not sure about the idea of banging it on a table also. I'm asuming they would have used a hand held hammer to strike the caps. A neat update of an old weapon though.

Well, of course they didn't have percussion caps back then.
But it's still a neat adaptation on a "rapid fire" pole cannon.

If we were too serious on this hobby, we weren't using stainless steel either...
