Rifle forearm conversion............
« on: March 14, 2011, 03:27:05 PM »
Just out of curiousity how can  rifle forearm be converted to fit a pistol barrel without having the barrel retapped? Im starting to like the rifle forearm on the pistol barrel.

I would just bore another hole in the forearm.  Run down to the local hardware store  and purchase the proper size booring bits so that the bottom of the holes will be flat.  This will allow you to move the little washer from the old hole to the new one and have a nice solid base for the screw to pull down against.  Then install a sling swivel stud in the old hole, or plug it with a bit of hardwood dowel.

I like the way the "full length" forearm looks on a pistol barrel too!

You can get 'tophats' from ED. They hold very securely. You can countersink them flush with a cheap drill mounted stone. An unused hole can be filled with a screw. Sink a nut in the barrel side and use a slightly shorter 10/32 screw. I like allen-heads. You can use this to put a S14 forend on a 10inch bull. You mount it with the rear screw. I also like the Mannliecher look.

Ive got my Encore in the works I just need to find a replacemnet screw for the front end, does anyone know where I can get one or work the screw specs are? Now Im wanting to do my Tender !

Even though I dont have a screw in the front mount I had to take her out and see what she felt like, not bad at all.

I cant wait to do the Tender!

Thx for the info but Im thinkin Im gonna need a screw atleast 3/4" long to fit the bill. What I did was take a block of wood and trimmed it down to fit the inside of the forearm. Once I got the block on wood to fit snug I glued it in with Gorilla glue. I thought about counter sinking the screw but Im worried about the glue popping loose so I opted to put a longer screw in keep it from coming loose.

So from my understanding , you dont use the front mount on your forearm ?

I put the final touches on my Encore forearm yesterday and I must say Im happy with her.

I wanted to mount both forearm screws cause I was affraid of the forearm coming off if I decided to put a bipod on it . So I counter sank a 3rd hole for the front forearm screw lock tited it and put it together. Now Im wanting to do my Tender pistol the same way as soon as I get my hands on a Tender rifle forearm.

Really like the look of the rifle fore end on the pistol, I have got an extra set of Maple rifle fore ends. Guess I'm going to the hardware store for a counter sink bit. now I'm going to have to make a new shoulder holster to fit the new fore ends.
