Time for turkeys
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:26:52 AM »
Anyone getting ready?  I went out last Sat. to Fulton Co and saw one flock of about 12-15.  I don't think there were any gobblers in it.   It was late morning and we didn't hear any gobbles.   My buddy patterned his Super X 2 with a new choke while we were out.  I know how my old 835 mossberg works on both ends so I don't care to get my shoulder slammed any more than I have to.  I'll try to do some serious scouting while trout fishing on the Spring River next week.  Looks like the powers that be are shortening the season this year.  I think it will concentrate the hunting pressure which won't be a good.  For one thing it can make it more dangerous.  Last year I took both my birds in the middle of the week but this year it may be necessary to hunt the weekends with everyone else.   Let the games begin!!!!

After opening morning it has been all downhill.   Never seen such a rainy turkey season.   The big bird in the swamp is wearing a snorkel.
I was lucky the first day and my buddy got his twin the 2nd day.
