I was looking(not in person) at a Nikon Monarch and a Leupold M8 Pistol Scope in a 2x for a 44 mag revolver.
Which scope is nicer in terms of clearity ,durability etc.?

Well, they stopped making the M8 years ago, so if you find one they should be cheap. Bought mine around 5 years ago for a whopping $99! Nikon Monarchs are nice, but for the money, I feel Bushnell Elite 3200s are a better deal.

Go with the Leupold. I`ve used them on handguns for years on 44 mags, 454`s and a 500 S&W. I have never had a problem with them.
