Yote;
  There are a couple of guys here that catch wild hogs.  They sell them in Texas to hunting ranches.
  They make a live trap (same set up most any cage trap) and bait it with corn.  They make the trap out of heavy duty wire cattle panels.  They catch some pretty big ones in these traps.  From talking with the fellows, it is not hard to catch one of the hogs, it is another thing to hold them.  The cage must be very strong.  A 300 lb wild hog can wreck a trap if it is not properly constructed.
For Sale: Old wore out trapper - rode hard, put up wet, high milage and earned every mile.

Hey ya'll,  I live in Texas where the boss game warden down in Austin, said in the paper that hog are taking over. They will be more numerous than deer soon, maybe they are now. They are surly better eating than deer.
I am building a hog trap in my front pasture and had a pup, Sweet Gentle Annie May, killed by a hog the other day. I was not home and it was during the day, by my house!  I never had anything against hog but do now!
         I always thought of hog as just walking meat, good meat! but I'm going to make them suffer for killing Annie May. There is just too much information to write down here. I will get me a web site with photos, traps, hogs, instructions for the building of and the killing,  butchering of,  and cooking !   [yes! I am a  gourmet chef too.]  hog.   The post before this one was good in that cattle panels are the prefered material for hog traps, corn is the prefered bait, [hog wild] was recomended as a good lure by my friend who showed me this trap design.  This cage type trap is simplest, most efficient,
no doors, no triggers, [really] it will hold as many as can get into the trap,
Want more build it bigger!  and when it closes... they can still root in, but it is kinda like the roach motel... they can get in but... heh heh..

I have never trapped any hogs.But saw an awful lot of them ,while trapping in Mississippi last season.
 We ended up with 2 babies,ran them down .We came upon a sow with a dozen young ones,she took off and so did we.You never saw such a comedy in your life.Running,trpping ,falling--hippers are not the best hog catching footwear--the 2 we caught were very calm,held them for pictures,then sent them on their way back to mama.
