Hi. Here in the Michigan backwoods, we have not had a local gun shop for years. Bought a set of RCBS dies, Lyman globe front inserts, powder scale, and 550 cast bullets, and 100 new Winchester brass, 18 loaded 405 grain 45-70 shells, AND a whole box of 500 grain 45-70 Buffalo Bore ammo, for $60.00 bucks. So if the price on this is high, I figure this rounds thing's out. Plus the guy is a ex- MARINE like me. Thank's  michstew

I'LL SAY that's a good price!!!!  I'd go back too...ALLOT!!  ::) ;D That's at least $200 or so in stuff!!!  You ROBBED the guy!!!  Yea go buy the Ruger, he needs to eat too!! LOL

Today is the day. Have to get my permit 2 bucks,Then take the stupid test. Then travel 20 miles to pick up the pistol, then back to cop shop and turn in the forms, then back to my cabin10 miles. As far as pricing goes, the shop owner set the price. All of his stuff is priced low, and he moves alot of guns. Stay warm.  michstew

Where do you need to take a test to get a pistol?  Once you have the test taken do you need to re-test to get another?  I get itchy with the three day wait in Wisconsin.

Guess nobody uses revolvers for bullseye target guns anymore. Whene I was a young man all the bullseye shooters had sets of either K22,32,&38 or colt officers match revolvers they shot in the matches. Of course they used built up 1911 for the 45acp matches. I started out with a Hi Standard supermatic citation.

That was a long time ago.

Not anymore, no.

A good many guys still shoot Hi Standards thou!! I have had a couple thru the years myself. My favorite was my 101 Olympic. Some guys shoot regular scopes and others use open sites. Police leagues just this year changed to optical sites. But for many many years they where open sites only.

The High Standards are a top notch target gun.
About 20 yrs ago I inherited a High Standard Supermatic Trophy, Model 104 High luster blue & gold inlay, 2 barrels, target grips, barrels weights, muzzlebrakes, range box and all the range stuff. A relative of mine had passed away and willed his guns & shooting stuff to me. I had shot & hunted with him for years but didn't realize I would be getting all his stuff. Thank you & God Bless you John.
My older grandson has taken a shine to this High Standard beauty & shoots it very well. So I guess he will inherit it from me.

Hi. Michigan is the state where you have to take a handgun test. And yes everytme you purchase. My new Ruger is now sighted in. Shoots great.  michstew

My Brownings (Buck Mark's) have shot extremely well. I've had a S/W revolver i forgot which model but it also shot well. I traded it for a S/W 41 and it doesn't shoot as well as the Browning's.

  HUH???  Are you sure you live in Mi.???  Maybe you are across the border in Canada and don't know it!  ha ha ha   To buy a handgun in the Mi. "I" live in, i have to go to the police station, fill out a paper/pay a fee and then go buy the handgun.  Once i have the gun, i have to SEND the paperwork into the police station, not take it or the gun back in...  That's it...

  Anyway, i shot small bore pistol competition for a number of years and did very well.  I've owned a LOT of different 22 pistols, Ruger, Colt, SW41's, and others, but the one that i kept, because it outshot all the others, is the one that i still have...  A High Standard Victor!  I don't think you can get anything more accurate unless you spend a pile of $$ in eroupe, OR do what all Ruger guys have to do to Rugers.  By the guns, then start throwing money at them until you finally get them right!

I just bought a new MarkIII 22/45 and love it.  You can get the wood grip models for just over 300 or the plastic ones a little less, either one would be a great pistol to start with.  My opinion.....  you dont have to have the biggest or baddest on the market to have fun, just get something reliable and that has good aftermaarket support......aka Ruger.
