1894 Cowboy .44 sight question
« on: March 18, 2011, 07:32:14 AM »
Does anyone know what an approximate front sight height should be for a 20" barrel 1894 Cowboy .44mag with a Skinner Express peep sight mounted in the rear?

I am thinking of using a front sight with the Skinner Express that is not "file-able" and would like some input from anyone who might have experience with this.

YOU can calculate the exact front sight height needed.

Shoot it @ 100yds with the issue front sight, and the Skinner set in the middle of it's elevation adjustments.

Measure, in inches, how high/low (probably high) your POI is above your POA @ 100yds.

Plug that measurement into one of the online sight height calculators at the Skinner or Brownell's websites to find out what your front sight height should be.
