about 60 to 70 percent blue
         fluted cylinder
bore- lands and grooves good but some pitting
grips are rosewood an excellent condition
barrel, cylinder , hindge are tight and function very well, trigger an hammer are very good also.
like the question asks i dont know if its a model 1 or 1 1/2.  i know without  pictures you cant really give me a value but maybe a ballpark figure based on what i have given you here . any help would be appreciated.

Roger:

I believe all Model 1's were .22 rimfire.

The Model 1 and 1/2 were chambered for the .32 rimfire. I'm pretty sure that is what you have (I have one myself).

According to the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" about 100,700 were made from 1868 to 1875. Last serial number was 127100 so yours was made towards the end of production.

From your description it sounds like yours would rate between "very good" and "fine" and that same text places value at $300 to $400 but the book is a few years old now so those prices may have changed.

Hope this helps.

thank you for your reply .  i had gone to gunbroker.com to try and figure it out but even some of the 32 cal. were called model # 1's ,so it was kinda confuseing.   the bore would not have been as pitted but when i looked inside there was still crud an residue from when it was shot last an not cleaned. wouldnt it be great if we could still buy 32 rim fire with black powder in them!
        thanks again for the info

I think you can,but I can't remeber where I saw the ad. It was pricey. Try to google 32  Rimfire and see what you get.

I had a .32 RF in an old rifle. Decent little caliber. Good for small game. I think the Dalton GA hardware store may still carry ammo. My kin folk in GA decades ago would shoot deer in the head with it. They were very poor and they hunted for food. Do know if it was legal or not in the '20's. I would rate the cartridge a little less powerful than a .32 Auto. I think the bullet was 77 grains.
