Rossi Single Shot Rifle
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:25:19 PM »
Got a chance to buy a Rossi Single Shot in .44 Magnum and I was kicking around the idea of rechambering it to .444 Marlin. (Don't ask me why, I don't know!!!) As far as strength, how do these rifles compare to Handi Rifles and Contenders?

Rossi sells a 270 rifle and it's the same frame as your 44 so that says it's plenty strong. Rossi's get a bad rap sometimes from the Handi guys but they're good rifles. I've got a couple of them and they shoot really well.

I have several Handi's and one Rossi. The Handi rifles are better, but theres nothing wrong with my Rossi. I bought it for my wife and oldest child to deer hunt with

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but do the rossi's have real rifling?  I'm curious, as they make a .44 mag with open sights, where NEF/H&R do not.
