scope on a Super Blackhawk
« on: March 20, 2011, 01:58:29 PM »
Is it a bad idea to mount a scope on a Super Blackhawk (7 1/2 inch barrel), or should I look for a Super Blackhawk Hunter model?  What do you think it would cost to buy a base and rings, then have a gunsmith install them?

Hold both and see what feels best for YOU.  The Hunter model will have a bit more forward weight.  One can use a clamp-on mount for the non-Hunter models but for a good, solid mount, drilling & tapping the topstrap is best.  Should be able to find used of each and save some $.  A used SBH, mount, rings and the drilling & tapping should be less than a Hunter but it IS best to handle both and see.  Gotta consider the optics to be used as well.

It is not a bad idea to mount a scope on a super blackhawk.  It's just a matter of how you want to use it.  B Square makes a no gun smith needed mount for the ruger super blackhawk.

Good luck,
