I have a 10in 22 Lr barrel. question, can it be re-chambered safely to a 221 fireball.
                                                  Thank you Rich

My guess is probably, but you should take note of the possible mis-match of  the twist in the barrel and it would probably need a different extractor. Call someone familiar with these barrels such as MGM.

Probably NOT.  The 22lr barrel should measure .222+/- .0005" the 221 Fireball shoots a true .224" bullet.  It may be possible to rechamber the 22lr to a 22 hornet and use .223" bullets but you would definitely be raising pressures with the 224" bullet.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

I thought of the .22 Jet ........ a .222 or .223 bore.

IMO ........  Better to work the classifieds to gain or trade to what you seek.  More economical and less frustration.

Best regards

Kind of one of those "why bother" projects IMO that will cost way more than its worth plus you end up with a substandard barrel in the new configuration (although lots of TC 22RF barrels have been rechambered to CF cartridges with no real problems shooting the .224 bullets or the different barrel twist - TC's 22RF 1:15, 22CF's 1:12).    But with so many used barrels out there that come up for sale the time and effort and cost just doesn't make a lot of sense.   Your barrel will be easy enough to sell if you need the money for another barrel, and one chambered for what you want can be bought just as easily for about the same money.

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
