scope for SRH 454I
« on: March 22, 2011, 05:41:20 AM »
I plan on buying a leupold 2x20 for my 454 casull priced at around $350. A friend of mine reccommended i buy a weaver classic handgun scope the 2x28.  I checked this scope out at the
midway usa website and it sells for $159 on sale foe $139. In checking the reviews on this scope
(21 of them) many claim to use this scope on 454's 460's and 500magnums with no problems what so ever. Are these reviews put there by weaver people or is the weaver handgun scope the real deal?

My 454 wears a 2X Leo , I like it.  I had a 2X Weaver on a Contender , 357 Max , it worked well.  Seemed clear , no problems.  Thats my only experience with the weavers.

regards , irold

I've got the Weaver on my SRH .454.  I like it, nice and clear and has held up just fine so far (about 200 rounds).

I had the little Leo 2x on mine and it worked well... it did eventually break the cross hairs , but Leo fixed it for free, so I was pretty happy.

I wanted more range so I went with the Burris EER 2x7...this was a great scope, but the SRH454 just trashed that big scope...It acctually bent the tube, I guess from the whip..LOL.. I suppose others may have the same scope and have had no problems.. but that was my experience.... I was running the old 55K FA data with FA260 Heavy Jacket SP's at +2000fps...but still..that scope only went 150 rounds.

After a lot of research and talking with guys that use big handguns... The "Ultra-Dot" seems to be the best choice.
