Carter fired his shotgun at a swamp rabbit because he thought it was a threat.  :( Clinton took advantage of young aid for sex in the Whitehouse. :-[ LBJ  brought every outlaw from the southwest to Washington.  :'( And you are worried about the way Trump combs his hair? ::)

Is it true that birthers heavily edited the grandmother tape?

Op-Ed Columnist
Donald Trump Strikes Back
By GAIL COLLINS
Published: April 8, 2011 Although Trump and I have had our differences in the past, I never felt it was personal. In fact, until now, I have refrained from noting that I once got an aggrieved message from him in which he misspelled the word “too.”

But about the letter. Mainly, it’s a list of alleged evidence that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. Trump has made this the centerpiece of his faux presidential campaign, falling further and further into the land of the lunatic fringe. I find this a disturbing spectacle — a little like seeing a guy you know from the neighborhood suddenly turn up in the middle of Times Square with his face painted blue and yelling about space aliens.

“Bill Ayers wrote ‘Dreams From My Father,’ I have no doubt about it,” Trump told Joe Scarborough, who reported on Politico.com.

Ayers is the former ’60s radical who became a huge Republican talking point in 2008 because he had once given a house party for Obama when he was running for state senate. It’s a pretty big jump from coffee and cookies to writing an entire book, but I guess that’s what neighbors are for.

“That first book was total genius and helped get him elected,” Trump continued. “But you can tell Obama did the second book himself because it read like it was written by somebody of average intelligence with a high school education.”

Did I mention that, in his letter, Trump complained about my calling him a “birther” because the word was “very derogatory and meant in a derogatory way”? Obama, of course, graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School — if you can believe Columbia and Harvard Law.

“Three weeks ago I thought he was born in this country. Right now I have some real doubts. I have people that actually have been studying it, and they cannot believe what they’re finding,” Trump announced on “Today.”

Trump does not actually seem to have people studying, or even Googling. Still, he sounds very self-assured. This is because before he was a reality-show host, he was in the New York real estate business, a profession in which it is vital to be able to say imaginary things with total certainty. (“I have five other people who are begging me to sell them this property. Begging.”)

Let’s run over some of his arguments:

THE GRANDMOTHER STORY “His grandmother in Kenya stated, on tape, that he was born in Kenya and she was there to watch the birth,” Trump wrote. This goes back to a trans-Atlantic telephone call that was made in 2008 by Ron McRae, an Anabaptist bishop and birther, to Sarah Obama, the president’s 86-year-old stepgrandmother. He asked her, through an interpreter whether she was “present when he was born in Kenya.”  The translator responded: “She says, yes, she was. She was present when Obama was born.”

It is at this point that some of the tapes floating around the Web stop, which means that the listener doesn’t get to hear the follow-up, which makes it very clear that Sarah Obama misunderstood. The full conversation ends with the interpreter saying, for the umpteenth time: “Hawaii. She says he was born in Hawaii. In the state of Hawaii, where his father, his father was learning there. The state of Hawaii.”

THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE If only Hawaii made its birth records public, and charged people a thousand dollars a pop to look at them, the state’s budget problems would be solved by the conspiracy theorists. However, it doesn’t. If you were born in Hawaii and request a copy of your birth certificate, you get a certification of live birth, which the federal government accepts for passports. Barack Obama requested his in 2007, and his campaign posted it on the Internet.

“A certificate of live birth is not even signed by anybody. I saw his. I read it very carefully. It doesn’t have a serial number. It doesn’t have a signature,” said Trump on “Today.”

The document has the stamped signature of the state registrar. The University of Pennsylvania’s FactCheck.org made a pilgrimage to the Obama campaign headquarters, examined the document, felt the seal, checked the serial number and reported that it looked fine.

THE EMPTY PHOTO ALBUM “Our current president came out of nowhere. Came out of nowhere,” Trump told the Conservative Political Action Conference to great applause. “In fact, I’ll go a step further. The people that went to school with him, they never saw him; they don’t know who he is. It’s crazy.”

This week on CNN, Suzanne Malveaux played Trump clips of Hawaiians reminiscing about the schoolchild Obama for a documentary the network had done on the president.

“Look, I didn’t say that ... If he was 3 years old or 2 years old or 1 year old and people remember him, that’s irrelevant,” Trump responded. “You have to be born in this country.”

Recent polls have shown Trump running second among potential Republican primary voters. I believe this is not so much an indication of popularity as a desperate plea to be delivered from Mitt Romney.

I'll just take a wild guess and say that Osama won't produce a valid birth certificate, because it doesn't exist, or if it does there's something on it that they don't want disclosed, or the guy is just warped.

Never having been Prez, I can't say for sure. But whenever someone came after me (like in 3rd grade), my first response used to be to say FU, and follow up with violence. As I got older and slower, the response became more like Obama's.

The only difference is, this is not 3rd grade and more critical things are under consideration.  There are certain qualifications anyone wishing to be pres must have.  One is that he/she must be 35 years of age (for obvious reasons) and he/she must have been born in the USA (again, for obvious reasons).. Therefore it behooves anyone holding or even running for that office to prove their qualifying credentials upon request.

The American citizen can not enter kindergarten or enter or leave his own country without a birth certificate.  How can a liberal leaning American say it is OK for the Preident to take office without one?  The liberal media is making a joke of this.  Everyday more Americans are asking what is the truth?  The polls now show 4 in 10 voters think that there is a problem with his birth place.

The "race card" is getting worn out..  People who think for themselves are very cognizant of the many false charges, which by now are becoming monotonous and redundant.
Do we remember the old story about the boy who cried "wolf" too often ?

Exactly what paper is Osama showing?  So far, all I've heard are some vague references about some phantom certificate that some people claim that someone saw.  Apparently, not even the sycophant news media are able to certify any actual proof of the faker presenting an actual certificate.  Note that Chris Mathews--the one with the leg issue--even wants Obwana to cough it up.

Come on folks. It is time to move on:

"It's kind of ludicrous at this point," Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the former director of Hawaii's Department of Health, said in an interview with NBC.
Fukino reviewed Obama's birth certificate twice and said that "birthers" and other doubters will never be satisfied.
"It is real, and no amount of saying it is not, is going to change that," Fukino said.

"I think that he was born in Hawaii because there was the birth announcement put in the newspaper. But obviously there is something there that the president doesn't want people to see on that birth certificate, that he sees going to great lengths to make sure it isn't shown. And that's perplexing for a lot of people," Palin told Judge Jeanine on Sunday.

FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false.

THATS GREAT!!............LETS SEE IT!!

You know I got guzzi telling me that people have seen the birth certificate and swear by it.
Then I have crusti on the birther thread telling me no one is allowed to see it except Obama, by law.
So which is it??
Thats the biggest problem with the whole thing. Nobody can get their stories straight and I still haven't seen it nor has anyone that counts. Only special liberals can view the thing?.........BS!

The birth certificate conundrum can't be solved until we improve the reading and comprehension scores in this country!

The article I referenced said you can see it but you can't get a copy
The Dr. Fukino guzzi references is the same Dr. Fukino in article the article I referenced . The same Dr. Fukino who has inspected the birth certificate.

Let me help you out- Dr. Fukino was not at Obama's birth and his vision has never been certified

I don't want to read your MSNBC article. I want to read the original birth certificate as do many others.
That would settle the issue once and for all and I don't have to hear any more about it. Seems a simple thing.

Ann Coulter says that she has seen the "long form" birth certificate and she believes Osama was born.  That's probably good enough for me, but birth certificate, or not, the obamunist will never be a President to me.  But then I never thought of Bubba Clinton as a President either.

TRENDING: Trump now considering independent run
By: CNN Political Producer Alexander Mooney

Washington (CNN) - Donald Trump says he's now flirting with the idea of running as an independent candidate should he fail to win the Republican presidential nomination, a move that, however farfetched, threatens to draw crucial support away from the eventual GOP nominee.

"I think the Republicans are very concerned that I [may] run as an independent," Trump told the Wall Street Journal in comments published Tuesday.

"I am very conservative," he added. "The concern is if I don't win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes."

The odds have always been stacked against a third party candidate in a presidential race, usually due to a combination of lower name identification, relatively little funding, and a lack of party infrastructure to rely on for get out the vote initiatives.

But Trump – who has already spent years making sure people know who he is and has vowed to spend hundreds of millions of his own fortune if he runs – says he could win without the GOP banner behind him.

"I'm not doing it for any other reason. I like winning."

Meanwhile, top White House aide David Plouffe shrugged off Trump's potential candidacy Sunday, saying there is no way he "would ever be hired by the American people to do this job."

But speaking to Fox Sunday, Trump maintained he is actually the Obama campaign's "worst nightmare."

"I am not the person they want to run against," he said. "They know it, and I know it, and I know it for a fact. Because I have a lot of people that, frankly, are contributors to him and they tell me, 'Donald you are not the person they want to run against.'"

Trump has not led the potential GOP field in any major poll. But a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed "The Apprentice" host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee are tied for second place with support from 17 percent of likely GOP voters, behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 21 percent.
