Stapled wood crate....opening one with window glass fast
« on: March 25, 2011, 01:02:00 PM »
Work had some windows shot by BB gun and they orderd new glass
The age old question of opening chip board crate thats stapled, in past Ive used, claw hammers nail bars, saw-z-all, wedges and other ideas to open crates.
the glass was freighted in seal'd in wood crates stapled shut on both sides,  this time I tried cutting them staples but the saw-z-all($8 blade) was scarey around that glass, tried useing a wonder bar to cut them but they just bent then I tried a economy ACE brand wood chisel and simply cut the staples all the way around, yes the staples boggerd the chisel edge a little, but the crate lid is pristine with no reggedy staples sticking out now I can reseal the old glass back in the crate no worries useing sheetrock screws, for the cost of a cheap chisel the job went fast as they pay  $/Hr, will stone the boggers out that 3/4" chisel latter.
The time better spent changeing glass instead of messing with some crate.
