throat reamer for .45-70 buffalo classic
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:31:32 AM »
i was thinking of buying a reamer to redo the throat in my buffalo classic.  its got approximately a 24 degree leade angle on it and just destroys cast boolits.  i refuse to shoot jacketed bullets out of this rifle.  i was thinking of the manson precision 513-053-450 reamer.  anyone used this before.  i would have to put the pilot on my lathe and turn it down though because my bore diameter is .446 and it comes with a .449 pilot.

I used Fred's reamer, worked great on three of my 45-70 barrels, I've only use jacketed bullets tho.  ;)

I dont think you would be turning a pilot on a hardened reamer anyway, it would have to be ground, and that very true.
