Lyman 4500
« on: March 28, 2011, 06:44:00 AM »
Any of you guys ever run into this?
I was out resizing some 357 SWC GC bullets this weekend.
Pull the handle and snap.  >:( What the heck?  :o
The handle broke off right at the pivot point.

I've emailed Lyman but they haven't got back with me.
I just bought this sucker about 4 months ago.

Hope they make it right by you, I have been pretty lucky with Lyman service, they are a little slow to reply to e-mails. I would give them a couple days and then have them on the phone. Good luck hope they don’t make a big deal out of it.

Well they got back with me yesterday late afternoon via a email.

Here's the response:
Were you able to get the broken piece of the handle out of the link?

I replied and haven't heard back from them.  :(

How did you make out with Lyman customer service, are they going to make this right with you. I would not let it drop, just because some flunky in the call center is having a bad day.
I have never had to with reloading companies, but Sears before I got totally fed up with them got several letters from me to corporate.
After enough complaining they made it right with me.
Not so much the price of the replacement handle, but it should not have broke in the first place.
Obvious defective  part.

I broke the linkage on my RCBS luber/sizer.  Was my own fault and I emphasized to the RCSB rep that the break down was all on me when I called to see about ordering replacement parts.  She sent me what I needed at no charge.  A couple years later the thermostat on my RCBS Pro-Melt went hatwire.  Called RCBS and explained the problem and that the melter was at least 10-12 years old.  They again sent me the needed part at no charge.  They mean it when they say lifetime on their warrenty.  Hope Lyman does the same for you as RCBS has for me.
Never said I didn''t know how to use one.

Well they got back with me late last Friday.
Said they'd send me a replacement part.
So far I've invested a little over a week .
I'm guessing it'll show up and I'll be back in business.
For what it's worth I probably could have sped this up with a phone call.
I just hate getting stuck waiting on the phone.

Glad to here Lyman is stepping up. I think the age of Computers and forms have been extremely influential in the way Firearms related companies, stand behind their products today.
I would bet they surf the forms, and a few bad post can affect the bottom line.
Even the cheapest Handguns, Bersa and Hi-point have life time warrantees.
So the Computer age doses have its benefits.

Well it arrived yesterday.
I'm gonna make a quick sketch of it so I can have another made in the shop.
I'll probably make a few design changes so I don't have to go thru this again...
