Handloading the 9.3x74R
« on: March 30, 2011, 09:26:22 AM »
Is anyone here loading this cartridge for a double rifle. I just acquired one and have hand loaded for 50+ years but never a double. I've been told they are a different cat!

From what I know about double rifles the barrels were regulated based on a certain load.
I think the 9.3X74R is pretty standard as a load pushing 286 grain bullet at 2400 FPS or there about.
I would look to get a factory loading or two and try them out to see where the barrels shoot at 50 , 75, and 100 yards.
See what load the rifle likes and then in your loading douplicate it.
