What do I have?
« on: March 30, 2011, 12:13:35 PM »
I have a M94AE in 45LC that has a case hardened receiver and saddle ring.  It is a Trapper style rifle with a normal sized lever.   I was wondering if it is a a special model and what it may be worth.  The rifle is newer and has the push button safety in the receiver.  Thanks for the help.

What you have is a nice, newer Winchester Model 94AE (Angle Eject) Trapper Carbine in 45 Colt.  I don't know how many were made but I recall seeing them advertized but cannot recall if those I saw advertized were a special run or not.  Right off the bat I can tell you that my local gunshop would tag it for $500 or better.  HTH.

Thanks for the responses, I picked this up right before they announced the shut down of the New Haven plant and the values of some of the 94's got a little crazy.  I was thinking of trading the carbine but could not find a comparable model to base its value on.

I haven't really decided, I thought about trading it for a Marlin.  I wasn't sure what I have, I am tempted to keep it and just add a Marlin to the stable.

What I would do is think about selling it for a second  ::) (your second is up), then keep it.
That's exactly what I did, I have an older 94 in 30-30, never used it much since I also had a scoped Marlin 336C.  I thought about selling it for a second then the feeling passed.
The value of your 94 will only go up. If you want a Marlin, just go out and buy one.  BTW, I think your gun safe is calling you to tell you there is room for another rifle.   ;D

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

You are right, my gun cabinet is looking for a new friend.  Looks like I know what I am doing this weekend.

If it works like the 44mag 94 AE I had I would sell it in a min. I love 94's but not the ones with a safety or pistol cal ones as they feed poor. A 92 now  ;)
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
