meat arrived from Delta
« on: March 31, 2011, 12:48:34 AM »
Seems like its been a long wait but I got my bison meat finally.  First, things were slow up in Delta so I think the processors were waiting to fill the smoke house before firing it up - maybe aging my meat too. Then Ak Air Cargo switched plane routing and schedules and a secondary carrier had to get it from Anchorage to Dillingham. Then DLG had fog problems for a week.

At any rate, I got the meat today. Thawed some tenderloins for dinner.  WOW  They are super tender and very good. I'm pleased. We opened a package of their Smokey Dogs for lunch and the kids loved them. They are more smokey and less spicy, a little skinnier and longer than what Indian Valley makes, but every bit as good.  Maybe better if you don't like a lot of garlic.

Delta Meat & Sausage  did a great job wrapping and labeling, labeling the boxes and taping up the boxes.  Quite a novelty for me - I haven't paid anybody to cut my meat in over 25 years!

Sure nice to have 300 lbs in the freezer - it has been looking really really empty lately - we're very low on salmon too.

Gave some steaks to my neighbor and he grilled them tonight.  Said they came out very good.

Just want to put in a good word for Delta Meat & Sausage for Alaskans who might be in their area.

Turns out a co-worker orders her beef and pork from them and has it sent all the way out here so she can have pesticide, drug free, meat.

Never knew that before.
