« on: April 01, 2011, 08:04:28 PM »
Darn, just bought this....   this is like my dream gun!!!  http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=222879356

I am looking so forward to having this in my hands.    hope everything goes well!
My FFL holder requires any firearms to be shipped to them via another FFL holder.  So, If I make an offer on a firearm please let me know if this is capable of being done from the start.  Please do NOT mark an item "SPF" to me until we "both" are happy with and in agreement on shipping, funds and the transaction in general.   Thanks

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked up a used, but cherry shape #1s in 45/70, about a year ago, and harvested my first "eat'in" critter with a cast boolit this past Fall.

World of good cast boolit info over on the Cast Boolit forum.  Lots of people really serious about cast boolit shoot'in and hunt'in.

I tried to shoot mine with the iron sights, but because of the low head position needed with the irons, it was very painful to the face.

I intended to use a scope, but thought of the irons as a possible back-up.  NOT!!!!!!

Soon as the scope was mounted, the pain went away with the higher head position.

Great fun, loaded mild to wild!

Let us know how it works for you.

Keep em coming!

spartacus1239,

Haven't heard any reports on your rifle.  Hope it is doing well for you!

I am currently very happy hunter, as a couple weeks back I took my second cast boolit game animal, a very large cow elk.

The 45/70 with cast is very impressive.

Keep em coming!

I have not had a chance to shoot mine yet.  No place to hunt right now and the new super range they are building the next town over is not finished yet.

so right now all I do is take it out of the safe and rub it down with an oil rag while calling it "precious"....

Thanks for the come back!  Hope you will have some place to shoot SOON!!!!!!!

Out testing loads the RUGER 45/70, this morning and it looks like I am in the right ball park.

A number of groups much better then what I took the elk with.

As per whiping a rifle or shotgun or hand gun down just for the pleasure of doing so, been there and done that.

Recall sleeping with a wood stocked Red Rider BB gun back in about 1950. That happened in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

So yes, having a nice loving time with a new gun is a worthy thing.

Keep em coming!
