Tom C, I agree with some modifications.

Only allow 21 year olds the right to vote unless they are in the military. 

An anti-abortion amendment may not pass, however letting it be a states rights issue would eliminate it in most states. 

I agree with term limits. 

Some of the items can be changed without ammemdments.

Yes its time and reduce the time the president serves in the white house to 2 years. This would allow a shorter"visit" for the screwballs elected to this office.

We need to follow the constitution and stop trying to find things in it that are not there and ignore the things that are there.
The only thing we need to do is follow it.
What I would like to see is a proirty list to the government.  State governemnts too.
With the last people on the list the legislature's staff and perks.  $5 says that the budget would be on time and ballanced, taxes would be lowered, and laws would be on the books to promote domestic business growth.

Originally I believe only men and only land owners could vote. It still should be that way. If it were we'd not have the problems we have now. As it is now the freeloaders vote in the folks who promise to give them the most taken from folks who actually pay their taxes.

Please remember that there are hundreds if not thousands of laws on the books that are just plain unconstitutional, with more being added everyday, such as mandatory health insurance. Most are just not challenged. As magooch and a couple of others mentioned, my fear is that the supreme court has the next to the last say on interpreting the constitution. Being human, they are subject to mistakes. Being politically appointed is a mistake.
The last say on interpreting the constitution will make scenes from Libya, look like a picnic, when it happens on US streets. Politicians still don't get it. The constitution is idiot proof. Obama, Pelosi, et all, are idiots, and this time there is no John Wayne waiting in the wings. It will be up to us to defend the fort.

I worry about the conservative Judges on the high court. They are about the only thing standing in the way of a totally liberal government. I hope they have very good bodyguards.

The reason only landowners could vote was they had a stake in this country.  Also, there were only two means of taxation in the first 80 years or so of this country, property tax and tarriffs.  States used property tax to operate, and the Feds used the tarriffs.  Land was free if you moved west, staked a claim, and lived on it a certain length of time.  Then you could vote, and later become part of a state.  This was Jeffersons idea of Manifest Destiny.  People would move west and settle it and parts would become states.  Even Lincoln thought after the Civil War that it would take 100 years to settle the west.  It was settled in 30.  By the 1890s there were no more Indian wars and states were added to the Union. 

Back to taxes, income tax and all free men voting amendment was added to the constitution during or right after the Civil War.  Then the south added poll taxes so that the blacks and poor whites couldn't afford to vote which was later declared unconstitutional. 

I think there should be a test of how our Republic is supposed to operate before allowing people to vote.  When women were first allowed to vote, they voted along with what their husbands did until more recently, now that 43% of adult Americans are not married but single.  Single women have a tendency to vote for Dems because of the welfare things they want, like food stamps, checks, etc.

There was a test prior to 1965.  If the voter registrar didn't like the cut of your hair or the color of your skin, he'd ask you simple questions on the Constitution.  Simple questions like, What's the 14th word in the 17th amendment?  If you happened to answer correctly, he'd ask another "simple" question.  Don't say it didn't happen because it did.  I was there.

All that ended with the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  So if you want to let only the "proper" people vote, repeal the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  Only problem is, Today's registrars might consider white skinned people as improper voters.

Landowners only voting...Ok.  How about only those paying taxes can vote..? Maybe those that are employed directly by the governmnet should NOT vote....And maybe get welfare from the gov should not vote.

I find it strange some on here see TM as a Liberal!
I see him (from his posts) to be more of a Libertarian. I don't see him as a Neo-con, but certainly not a socialist Liberal.

My idea for the test is like the test to become an American citizen.  It is fair, anyone can pass it if they read and study what is necessary.  Some people who vote don't even know that Guam is an island and will not tip over if too many Marines are transfered there.
