Is a trigger job on a new Encore worth it?

Still considering getting my first Encore, and I wanted to get a few opinions on if a professional trigger job on a new action was worthwhile.  Currently, eabco is offering the service for $65, and I have seen several posts of members that had them do the work.  Any thoughts?

I had a 2lb trigger put on my Encore and I love it. $65 for a trigger job isnt bad , I paid $75 for mine. To me it increased my accuracy alot. It took me a little to get use to the lite trigger but I wouldnt have it no other way.

Yes, definitely worth it to have one done.  I would recommend SHOTS gunsmithing in Oregon.  Jim does a great job and turned mine around in no time.  If u are a do it yourselfer, they are fairly simple to do, but require a spring and some polishing stones to get the trigger down to the 2-2.5 lb. range.  Jim does great work.

+1 fo Shots, Jim put a 2.5 lb. trigger on mine, it's mostly for hunting and I didn't want to go too light, so he said I would be happy with 2.5 and I am completely happy.

Jim also did my Contender.  Excellent work, short turn around time, and all I had to do was to take a pin out and send it to him.  I am sure that he would do a great job on your Encore.    Slim

If you buy the frame from Ed of Ed's TCs I believe he will do the trigger job for no added cost or at least he did the last time I bought a frame from him. It was a G2 not Encore but I think they are very similar internally. I'm not committing him to that but am just telling you what happened last time I bought a frame from Ed.

I'm not sure if SSK still sells frames or not but if so they too might offer such a deal or might not but it might be worth asking.

I've owned two Encores a blue and an SS one. I saw no need for a trigger job on either as they were fine for me from the factory. I think too many folks feel a need for a trigger pull that is too light.

While I have NO experience with an Encore frame, have no idea what the trigger is like?I can tell you that reducing the trigger pull on my original contender did not increase accuracy at all.
I shoot silhouette competitions, Im not the best shooter. Never cleaned all 40 targets and reducing trigger pull didnt help anything.
Your results might vary from mine.  I dont think reducing the trigger pull is the " Holy Grail" in accuracy if thats what your looking for.

I am pretty fussy about triggers, and learned how to do my own trigger jobs.  Like a couple others here I have Contenders, not Encores.  I have never needed to do a trigger job on any of mine.  If your trigger is creep any crunchy get a trigger job.  But shoot the gun for a while first.  Lots of folks here buy a new gun and overhaul it when it really doesn't need it.  Shoot it and then decide.

     I am real fussy about my triggers.  However, I think there is too much emphasis on trigger pull weight.  I'm much more concerned about crispness and creep.  My most favorite non Contender trigger is on an old K frame S & W 22 that I bought used my years ago.  This trigger breaks with absolutely zero movement.  You can not see it move or feel it move.  It was that way when I got it.  It is one of the few guns I own that I've never touched inside(it ain't broke and I don't want to screw it up).  One day when I was "messing" with a trigger I decided to put the gauge on the old Smith.  I was totally amazed that it registered at over four pounds.  In disbelief, I checked again...same thing.  I would have taken a serious bet that this trigger was no more than two pounds.  It is just so crisp that it feels less...to me, an ideal trigger.
    I got an Encore just as soon as they were made.  Compared to most rifles, the trigger was OK, but when compared to my beloved Contenders it wasn't even close.  Being a dedicated "tinkerer" I had to go to work on it.  Installed a new spring and did some polishing with a very fine stone...WOW!!!......It went from just so-so to wonderful.....became my favorite(other than Contender)gun almost immediately.
    YES, it is definitely worth a trigger job, to me, and for what is involved, I think $65 is very reasonable.   Go for it and ENJOY!!!

I hate to sound like a broken record, but Jim Hendershot does great work on Encore and Contender triggers. He lightens them up but keeps them safe and the turnaround time is very fast. Jim is great to talk to and if you're having a problem with your Contender or Encore, an email will get you some sound advice very quickly. Highly recommended!

I have 2 Encores my Pro hunter's Trigger was one of the worst I have ever seen a trip to a good gun smith
now it is one of my best.
My other one was not so bad but it still went into the same gun smith.
My 2c worth you just cant beat a good trigger.
