In your opinion would it weaken a 222 case to the point of being dangerous if you were to swage a belt on the case?   In other words would it or possibly could it cause the case to rupture at the point around to belt?   Has anyone besides P.O. Ackley done this that you know of?  I know that Ackley did this to a 30-06 case but nothing was mentioned about how it shot.      Thanks  Sledge

I honestly don't know, but I'm curious as to why, and what for, and in what.

What for and why--- Will call it a 19 NEHAB,  (No Body Else Has A Belt)  Just to be different and like to experiment and be different from the general run of the mill wildcats.
What will it be good for--  Not Much more that a regular 222

Well that works for me! but I still don't know the answer. I'll run some searches and talk with a couple of buds, see if I can help. My initial thought was to shorten the 240 weatherby and open the bolt face, but that most likely won't  "cut the mustard" :D

Thanks for the comeback Onesonek.  Yeah I thought about the 240 and also the 224 Weatherby but that would be in the catagory of the " General Run of the Mill"   Maybe since my retirement I have to much time on my hands and not enough to do with it with this cold weather and cabin fever. LOL  This is something I have been thinking about for a lot of years but just didn't have the time to persue it.  May be wasting my time and $$$ but it should be fun.     Thanks  Sledge

I tried like hell to form belts on 270s trying to form 240 weatherby brass.... but my success wasn't what I had hoped.  I got warned early in the game, not to anneal the case head while trying to do this...  If you have time and patience, why not give it a try?  Hopefully you can learn something and tell us how to do it.  Prices of weatherby brass in 240 make trying worthwhile!!
