10 ga barrel...help

i picked up a sb 10 ga barrel but the extracter lug has been cut off. how do i go about getting a new one re-installed?

You'll have to order parts from H&R, toll free (866)776-9292, no one else carries the 10ga ejector, as gcrank said, see the FAQs for instructions.

its actually the whole underlug thats gone. and i couldnt find anything on faq

You're SOL unless someone has a barrel they want to sell and someone that can safely cut it off and weld in on, no one makes underlugs, although they have been made before, very expensive machine work, might as well spend the money on an accessory barrel or a used 10ga. Be aware the 10ga requires a different frame than other shotgun barrels, it won't fit an SB1 or SB2 rifle frame, so unless you have an SB2 shotgun frame, you'll need that too.

do you know what kind of welding is required? im a welder by trade but have never dealt with guns in such a manner and it seems a little more refined than what i may be used to.

My gunsmith was going to weld an underlug from a donor rifle barrel to a Shilen barrel blank for me, but he decided it wasn't going to be an easy job making sure it was aligned properly, too much work making an alignment fixture I think, so he ended up doing a stub with the donor instead, so being able to weld doesn't necessarily mean it's easy.  :-\

Sounds like you got quite a tomato stake there............ :(; wonder if somebody thought they could weld that underlug onto something else and ended up with two pieces of......., well, less than needed.

does anyone know by what process and means in which they attach these lugs and what grade of steel that they fabbed from? Also wondering with standard style welding, what the results of heat damage may occur?  nothing is definite, there s always a way

I bought an older 20 ga H&R barrel with the snap on fore stock.  The underlug on that barrel was brazed instead of welded.  Anybody think brazing would work on the 10 ga?
