Sis Boom Bah! Good luck, Douglas; and don't let any of those older kids talk you into any all night kegger parties, you just stick to the books. ;)
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

YEA!  That's great!  (As long as you don't have to pay DOUBLE tuition.)

Take it easy on your YOUNG classmates - well, maybe not - YOU can set the pace for the class!  The young 'uns haven't yet learned discipline.  The questions you ask are going to be KEY in the whole class's understanging.

Douglas, that is great. Are you teaching class, or attending class?

I am taking website design and  CAD-Computer Aided Drafting...for now.  Degree is a thought in the back of my mind.  Not getting my Bachelor's is the one thing in my life I regret not doing.

Douglas, This is more proof that Katherine was a wise woman. She understood that you have more to teach than to learn. Show your young classmakes a piece of your Generation. It will make their lives better. You know where you are going, now, enjoy the journey!

Very cool, I'm sure you'll do well. I hope you enjoy it. I went to school for graphic design, although I'm not using it.

That is great. If you have never used CAD you will really enjoy it. It is such a time saver working out the details in projects on there first before starting to cut.  I've been using it professionally for 22 years, but use it at home too for my fun work.

Douglas,

From living in Montana for about 20 years... I remember Havre often recorded temperature extremes (both heat in summer and cold in winter) for not only Montana for for the entire continental US...  DaveSB's comment about "very cool" may prove to be a gross understatement if you don't get moved from the travel trailer into something with more heat and insulation...  :o   Straw bales stacked tightly together can do wonders also...

Best of luck to you in your studies ...and getting into something warmer.  8)

George, It must be a while since you lived here...it is Cut Bank where the record temperature swings occur...and yes i have been giving snm e thought to the trailer insulating issue...not sure strwa bales would be allowed in the park. but I might be able to get away with foam board.

I just sent this to a friend:

Quote
Well I went in to pay my tuition today to start college Monday...$1200 please...no I am Senior citizen and I get a Senior Citizen waiver...no you are not old enough...but the public law says...no the public law was changed to 65 three years ago...Okay so I am a veteran...where is  you DD214...that's at home...where is your letter in ineligibility from the VA...the what?...to get the Veterans waiver you have to apply to the VA and get denied because your benefits were exhausted or expired.  What degree are you working on?...I'm not working on a degree, I am taking personal enrichment classes...you have to be working on a degree to get the wavier...here's my $1200, may I have a receipt please...shucks no beer and pizza this semester.
He just sent me the solution!!!

Isn't higher education wonderful???  You might try going to the kids on campus that make false IDs for those not 21 and ask for one that says you're 65.

Thanks. Rich.  I'll be posting drawings of cannon barrels in no time!!!

Douglas,
I can understand better than some..... Today would have My Carol's & my 11th wedding anniversary......
on the way home I'll be picking up some red roses to put by her picture......
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

We placed my Wife, Katherine's remains in her Grandfathers grave today. It was a very emotional moment for me. It is very hard to put a 44 year relationship behind you and relegate it to a memory. After the internment of her ashes I took all my kids and grand-kids out for Pizza and we had a wonderful time. While we were eating I told everyone that this very same pizza parlor is where I took Katherine on our very first date. It made that first date more special, and this sad day less painful.

Douglas,
We can find peace in the fact that we will see our loved ones again one day, and although the relationship does not continue our memories of the good times with them will and in a small way those memories keep them with us...

So good to meet you in person today, (Friday),  Douglas, and thanks for the Razzleberry Pie a'lmode, next time, it's on me! ;D A few of the Cannons, Mortars and Howitzers that have showed up here on this Forum could have made a difference out there on Battle Rock, back in the day! I think I understand (perhaps to a lesser degree) the emotion.  I was drafted.  Took basic training at Ft. Dix.  B-5-2  B Company 5th Bn, 2nd Regiment.  Just before retirement I wrote a training exercise for a Signal Battalion (owned them for 72 hours for evaluation)  -- we were housed in the SAME BUILDING that I took basic training in.

Lots of memories and emotion.  Long time inbetween.

We NEVER leave people emotionally.

It is really good that you have GOOD memories to remember.

It is also good that you've chose to share those memories and experiences with us.

THANKS!

Douglas,

Your personal Strength and Constitution have helped you through these most difficult times. You have shown dignity and humility to all who know you. She always knew what you were made of. Walk tall and enjoy the Journey my friend. You have earned that!
