P239 guide rod
« on: April 09, 2011, 06:25:06 PM »
I purchased a Sig P239 9 mm many years ago. I am amazed at the accuracy and reliability.

The gun has a plastic guide rod. Should I be concerned about this long term? Should I have a gunsmith replace it with a metal rod?

Thanks.

Hey Chewey,

The recoil spring guide rod is $6-$7.  For that price why not replace it.

I read somewhere that the metal guide rods were replaced with synthetic rods due to a military requirement.  The metal ones might get bent and cause the gun to malfunction.  Makes sense to me.  I'm sticking with plastic.
