Vintage Marbles Gladstone Knife questions
« on: April 09, 2011, 07:10:32 PM »
I have a vintage Marbles Gladstone fixed blade knife that once belonged to my Great grandfather.  From what I have been able to find, I believe it to be a Woodcraft model.  It has a stag handle retained by four brass pins.  Just in front of the brass handguard the blade says "Marbles Gladstone" on one side and "PAT'D 1916" on the other side.

I am looking for information on date of manufacture and the type of steel used in the blade.  I have also encountered references to a convex grind on the blade that made the edge last particularly long.  I am interested in information regarding how to maintain or restore this convex edge and how best to sharpen this knife.

If anyone knows something about these knives or knows of a good place to find information on this knife, I would appreciate the heads up.
