Ok to crimp below the cannelure?

Obviously the cannelure is positioned to accept the crimp, but my 336 shoots the best with 160gr FTXs seated out just beyond the cannelure.  The rounds cycle fine and this seating depth has proven to be the most accurate in this gun.  Any reason not to crimp a little low?

nope, as long as they are short enough to cycle thru your rifle, no worries.

Well, it's certainly safe.  But it might make your sling swivels rust!    ;)
