+2. Sounds like a fairy tale to me. A 12 year old "KID" making more money then his dad "EARNS". Gotta be a real dead beat dad. Even a dad on unemployment in todays bad economy will "EARN" more then a 12 year old "KID". With overcrowded prisons, and nobody wanting new ones built in their areas, why not outsource prison terms offshore to china? Gang members, illegals, drug dealers, etc. China could probably house an inmate for 50% or more less than what it takes to do so in the USA. When their term is up, give them a sack of rice,some fishing tackle, a compass, and a sailing dingy. They'll get back (if at all), good navigators and sailors.

If you must know, back in 1980, a new Z28 was about $8K. And a 12 year old started off at about $200/week cash. There were dads making less than that. What they had to do at 12 was not much. Sit around and play video games. By 2 years later, you were expected to do a lot more. But you were getting paid a lot more too.

Yeah maybe so, but if so, only because they were being groomed to be theives, pushers, rapists and murderers. They earned that money by robbing old people of their pension checks, burglaries, breaking into cars, stealing stuff others worked hard for, robbing people who were unable to fight back, selling drugs, stealing cars....yeah, things to really be proud of!!!!! Want to see a truly brave kid? Look at the ones that said no to the gangs. The ones that worked their butts off in school getting an education so they could have better lives that they truly earned. The ones that made something of themselves despite the odds being stacked against them! The ones that walked the streets alone without half a dozen or more guys to back them up if trouble arose. The ones that stayed out of jail because they not only knew the differance between right and wrong but lived by it! They are the ones that have a right to be proud! Not some two bit punk living on easy street at everyones exspense but their own!

Oh we're talking about 1980?? In 1980 minimum wage was $3.10 an hour, or $124 for a 40 hour work week, however you want to look at it. The unemployment rate was over 7%. There were 7.6 million American Workers (adults) out of work in a 107 million worker work force. . . . .but 12 year old "KIDS" were making $200 cash a week sitting around and play video games. Then two years later with an unemployment rate of 9.7% with over 10 million people out of work, they were getting paid a lot more. What planet are you from, planet Sopranos?
