Whatca do with 2?
« on: April 15, 2011, 06:34:41 PM »
Couldn't resist picking up ANOTHER 45/70 today ::)  Guy only wanted $200 and gave me the only box of bullets shot in it with 4 left.  Don't know if I like the synthetic stocks on a big boomer like her though.

Sneaking suspicion with all the oil on the latch face...........he probably couldn't get her to group.  But we know better, right! ;)

Congratulations on the new 45-70. I have one with a scope and one with a peep,
doesn't everyone? You might need two in the event of a buffalo stampede. That
is what I told the Boss, she wasn't overly impressed with that one.

I personally would change the stock for something heavier which would add a little weight to the gun.
Let us know how she groups, BTW, if you don't have room for her in your safe, you could probably rent some storage space in his gun safe from Land Owner.  ::)

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

i got both versions to both shoot excellent.i used to shoot my original 45-70 trap door till i really shot the buffalo classic i love that gun and i can shoot the hotter loads for hunting i've shot jacks with it's fun.next if i hunt  with it again i am going to try antelope.drew out last year so it will be a while. my son says what do you want to do blow them up i told it will make a nice 1/2 inch hole right threw it with not much meat damage.the one i shot last year was tasty they are better than the mule deer i have shot. you have to skin them right away and cool them down. my boy tells me that white tail deer are better tasting than mule deer i haven't tried that yet. good luck with the 45-70's.

Bobby,

You are fine as long as each 45-70 is a little different.  I bought 3 so far, one is for black powder cartridges, chopped one to 18.5" and rechambered another to 45-120.  Now I still got to have the 45-90 and maybe a 45-100 and of course modifying a 45-70 barrel with a breechplug to be a fast twist 45 cal MZ is another great option!  See, you don't have too many, you are just getting started. 8)

Padre Bobby, All I did was put 36 ounces of number 4 shot in a stocking and put in the synthetic stock.  Now it thinks it's a .22LR.  Best of luck with the new BB gun.
