Apparently I'm no expert turkey hunter
« on: April 16, 2011, 05:39:55 PM »
OK,  I got the blind set up, got camo on, decoys out.  Got the best of calls I'm told.  Got a turkey to answer the call but would not come in.  I tried the owl hoot, the crow call, every trick I've been told about.

I finally got tired and disgusted and went to the house.  My grand daughter picked up the call while I was changing clothes, and went out on the back steps.  By the time I got changed, she had a jake within about 50 yds. in full strut and showing his stuff RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOWED LAWN, AND WITH HER IN PLAIN SIGHT!!!!

By the time I retrieved my shotgun and walked back out, he had left.

I'm gonna' just buy some clays and a thrower.  Somedays you just want to shoot something.

One thing I am gonna' do is get my champeen turkey caller her own camo.

I have the same problem with my youngest Grand Daughter, and enjoy every minute with her. You are blessed to have her.  Keep her in the woods.

Went out yesterday....with the child and she called a jake within 100 yds.  Just not close enough to shoot.  In the midst of it, her little dog "escaped" and ran  the turkey off.

Try again later........ ;D

This child has a way with all animals, and says she is gonna' be a vet.  She certainly has the aptitude.  I can learn a lot if I'm not too dang old!
