XP-100 ??
« on: April 16, 2011, 06:58:34 PM »
My Father-in-Law had a XP-100 and I'm trying to get the action out of the stock. Took the one screw(bolt) out and the front end is loose, but the action part is tight.
Any advice.

Pull the bolt, there's another action screw that goes down through the action into the stock.

Thanks. You're fast. He had 2-one 221 fireball and a 7mm br, the 7mm br doesn't have a safety; is this normal? Trying to break it down to see what's what.
Thanks again

I'm pretty sure all factory guns came with safeties, but they are often removed from competiton guns with custom triggers. This isn't a safety issue in competition, as the action is always open in till it's time to fire!

They also came with a spring loaded trigger balance weight which was often removed for competition and weight.  Its purpose was in the event the gun was dropped the weight would react  against the trigger to prevent it from going off.

Re xp100 trigger:  The integrity of the sear engagement is what is important. If you have a safe trigger (and keep your finger off of it until you are ready to fire) the lack of the safety is no detriment. If you have an unsafe trigger you probably learn this as you flip off the safety.
I must strongly advise you the following: NEVER...NEVER load these guns inside your house or other dwelling.  If you need to solve a problem relating to chambering or bullet seating, do this by using a dummy round.

Thanks guys. I got the action out.
He had a 221 fireball too with the safety in place, so I had something to compare it to. Looks like the safety was just removed from the 7mm BR, I've got one ordered, should be here in a couple days.
Thanks again.
I've got a friend that wants them both and I want to get them back the way they were. Help with value???? One has a 10x burris and the other a 2x leupold.

You can check Gunbroker.com to see what others are asking.  To really learn about xp100s you should read www.specialtypistols.com
You have to register with an email address at S.P. but it is the best source of information.
