Gun show Report, Lebanon, PA
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:59:10 AM »
I went to a gun show yesterday in Lebanon, PA.  The first I had been to in awhile due to my work and travel schedule.  I saw several Handis in rifle and shotgun configurations.  A couple stood out to me, one being a beat up 158 Jet that was still in working order but short about 50% of the blue and finish, like a truck gun would be. It was marked $259 and I didn't try to bargain on it but it is not a configuration you see very often.  The other gun I saw was was an H&R 12 gauge in decent shape for $69 in complete working order.  I did see several new Handis marked at equal table prices to the low end new bolt offerings.  That will be a hard pill for the general shooting public to swallow in favor of the single shots.  Most equate bolts as being better than any single shots.  I have a couple of very high end single shots and most deer hunters and shooters would pass over them to pick up a bolt.  They might admire how pretty they are but then they will grab the bolt to go hunting.  The show was not crowded and was easy to walk through and had several Ruger #1's and a couple that did catch my attention.  I left empty handed but my wheels were turning in my head.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

I haven't had a good experience at a gun show in years.  Around here, if a couple of buddies of mine and I got together we could lay out more guns than there are in the shows.  Add to that the fact most are priced way out of sight.  Most of the dealers are trying to sell stuff for much more than it can be bought for at a sporting goods store.  I haven't gotten a "buy" at a show in 20 years.  A case in point Mosins, for 229.00, selling at Dunhams clean and refurbished for under 130.00.
