scope for 22-250

wanting to scope my encore 22-250. what are your thoughts on mueller apv?

Mueller has a good following and what I understand a good warranty, but I don't think that it will hold up to the recoil over time that the 22-250 can generate, compared to what most people are putting this scope on which is a 17HMR or 22LR.I could be wrong, but this is my thought. Mueller is still new on the scope scene, and haven't proven themself like other top named scope manufacturer's have. Even though Redfield(not endorsing) which is a new/old scope company, they're using Leupold's knowledge/glass/parts/and probably some employees, to bring out a scope that is just as good as their "parent" company, but at a better price. How long have you been comparing scopes and what is your price range?  I own Weaver(V-classic), Nikon(Buckmaster), Burris(FullfieldII), BSA(Contender), Bushnell(Banner), Simmons(44 MAG) and have owned Tasco and other cheaper scopes, so I have a broad spectrum of choices to answer questions of Pro/Con of each scope with, and each scope has something different on the rifle I have the scope mounted on. My rifles are from a 17HMR up to a 30-06.

You CAN'T be serious. What recoil? The Mueller scopes will stand up just fine to a whole lot more recoil than the gentle push of a .22-250. Plus they carry a life time warranty that really means what it says.

GB and LLoyd are both right on.  The real question you have to ask yourself when you buy optics is....what's the budget???  The Leupi is superb, a weaver Classic V is a favorite of mine, Mueller's seem to live up to their marketing....lots of choices!

The Mueller is prolly your best choice in that price range. I imagine the scope on mine is in the $600 range.

E-Bay and burris or nikon.. I;ve gotten some good deals lately on both in fullfield's and buckmasters. Or you could try the Gameseekers by pentax. Not bad glass for the price.

I had one on a .22-250, but never could get it focused as clearly as needed. Put an Osprey International 10-40x on it.
That scope was $139 or $149 but is 30mm tube and ya BETTER keep the receipt in the event of warranty repair. It looks
pretty big even on my Savage VLP.

And as far as holding up to recoil, C'MON.....the recoil of a .410 shotgun is at least twice as much as a .22-250!! You could
put a Bushy Banner on it without worry of recoil ruining it (which I plan to do just that with an old Rem 788 after I get the
stock refinished).

My main advice would be to get the best glass ya can for $200. Go to a store or gun show and look through a bunch of them.
Then get on Ebay or some of the online stores and get the best price for the scope of your choice.

You might look at Hawke or Nikko-Stirling for something different, or (I can't believe I'm saying this) a side-focus BSA 6-24X44 (Midway USA) 30mm tube side-focus, around $150; Mueller sells a similar 8-32X model, probably from the same factory. Also, for a little more, the new Weaver Buck Commanders look to be decent side-focus for the $, although the highest mag is 4-16X. I've been running a made-by-Tasco Super Sniper 20X ($300 from swfa.com) on my .22-250 recently for groundhog hunting with suprisingly good results.

Save your money and get a good scope! You can buy a less expensive scope now then another later when your not happy with it. You'll spend more on those two than if you save a little more for a quality scope. I saved a year for a Leupold VXL 4.5x14 Leupold for my distance rifle but I'll never need another scope for it.  JMHO

No I've never had a problem with it or any of the many other Bushnell Elite scopes I have. I wish I had a couple more but just can't afford them rat now.
