I just fessed up in another post - I live in the DC area, something I don't like to brag about, but I have my reasons and we will probably move soon. Anyway, the incident was on TV last night. It was the Fox affiliate, not the cable show, generally just a straight-up TV news show. The victim is a trans-sexual, he/she, whatever. I think those conversions occur in stages, so for a while they've got two sets of equipment. The TV garbled the details, but it sounded like he/she was try to use the bathroom, possibly while one of the other girls' boyfriend was in it, which they probably thought was kind of provocative. The two are 14 and 18 and both have been charged. The guy who took the video was fired, no word on the manager or other employees. The victim was interviewed. She is not in a hospital and her face was not messed up, mostly just talking about the hard road people like him/her have to travel. Most of the talking was by a spokesperson for the trans-gendered lobby. Yes, if you can think of it, there is a lobby for it in Washington.
I emphasis that I do not condone people getting beat up for anything, unless they have initiated a crime on an innocent person. I do think that if one is at the stage in the make-over when they are wearing female clothing, they should use the ladies room. Beyond that, I would just wash my hands of the whole sordid mess.
