Last I heard they are still debating on it... one of the options is starting the season later, another is having a split season..You might want to cheak the DNR website for any updates..

bouta month before the end of last whitetail season there wasa petition to extend our
whitetail season so we can hunt the rut this come'n 2011-12 season. ( i guess thats what is was about) thats what i wanted anyway
everybody was supose to vote online.
i guess someone should have posted about it on here !!!  they might have. i don't know
 i was in tha swamp most of tha season.

They've been bringing that up the last 10/15 years at least. It hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of passing. Besides up here where I hunt the rut is in November anyway. By the end of January all the bucks in CWMA have dropped their antlers. They no longer even hold gun hunts there in January.

i know what you speak of GB, but i think this is a territory thing within the state (multiple counties).
i talked with a dnr rep and thats what he told me.
it would be nice if down here, we cud hunt deer in feb

I'm gonna put on my seer hat and predict the same season dates we've had the last ten or fifteen years or whatever it has been. About the only thing that changes here in Bama is the weather.

I'd like to see them go back to the buck a day limit tho not that it really matters to me since I've not shot a deer in several years. Since I am trying to do a bit more hunting now I'd like to see it go back to what worked fine for us for so many years. I've seen zero benefit from the change.

In the Eufaula paper today there was an article that said that they were going to allow buckshot until the end of the season, and that most Dog hunting was banned, but they'd have to thoroughly study the prospect of changing or extending the season just yet.

Unless of course they change their minds again.

last night i ran into a unreliable source
he said that they have been negotiating a extention for 2 weeks in feb
for primitive and blackpowder firearms along with bows/crossbows.
and close the second and third week in dec.

wish i could bank on that, i've know this guy for ever....who knows he could be correct....
