Medical Question.
« on: April 23, 2011, 09:23:11 AM »
I've been having a lot of trouble with my lower legs the last 2-3 days. It started out with a kind of weakness, then I could barely move my toe's, then I had drop foot so bad I could hardly walk (I would almost call it a paralysis but I could feel) , and now all of that is resolved but my calfs are so sore I'm chair/bed bound with the exception of bathroom breaks.

I don't have a fever, haven't injured myself to my knowledge, haven't exerted myself beyond the norm, and really don't feel bad other than this.  I'll go to the Dr. on Monday if I'm not better, but wanted to see if any of you have experience with anything like this to see if the ER is warranted or not.  FYI, pretty positive it's not a blood clot as it's in both legs equally and there's no swelling or localized pain, just generalized calf pain.

Thanks.  This is just for my info, don't worry about a disclaimer, as I'm not holding anyone to any info they share.  I'm just curious and concerned.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

I agree with the other two.  Rog

Speaking from experience.  Been there done that.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Hope you're okay.

But how about we all agree that we won't seek or wait for emergency medical advice from this or any other recreational discussion forum.

We can't even agree on gun calibers and scope magnifications; how are we going to come to a concensus on your treatment.

Now, if you hadn't gotten medical advice off a discussion board, you might still be able to see out of that ear. ;)

When you have intense pain that is unexplainable as you describe, you should head to the emergency room. Your life and well being are way too important to gamble with.

I had similar problems when first hit with Fibro Myalgia. I still do on occasions.  Haven't had a tick bite recently have you? It could even be Lyme Disease. Could be lots of things and a visit to your ER might be wise. Better safe than sorry. Praying all goes well.

Yep, ER.

Stroke? don't know I'm no Dr.     To quickly find out if somebody  had a stroke, is to have them stick their tongue out. If  it sticks straight out, probably not a stroke. If it sticks out crooked and to one side or other........more than likelly a stroke.

Either way, any sudden loss of motor skills should prompt an ER visit.

Wylie, prayers sent.

Many medical problems have similar symptoms- only way to know for sure is to see a doc ASAP. If it's serious- time is the most important factor.

I am a paramedic and I agree with the others here. Go to the ER. I am disappointed that your doctor's office didnt tell you to call 9-1-1 when you tried to make the appointment for this.

Survey says rhabdomyolysis is the likely cause.  Probably caused by a combo of hypothyroidism and some of my meds.  I'm feeling 1000% better.  Thanks for the input, all.  Just want to check in and let you all know what is up.
