I need help with this A5
« on: April 24, 2011, 07:40:42 AM »
I have a 12 gauge A5, serial # B28XXX. The Browning site has me confused on how old it is. I understand the "B" means it is a 12 gauge but when was the 28XXX's made? Does this mean it was made between '03-'39? Also on the forearm is is stamped in the wood "Browning 3 Shot". So what did they call this model? Thanks for all the help.

You have what is called an"American Browning", which was a Remington Model 11, made by Remington and stamped with Browning logos 1940-1947, while the European FN/browning facility was Nazi occupied, and there were no Browning A5's made or imported.
