this is a early 70's woodie i got in a trade . the feathers were bad and the glue was not coming off . so i took light sand paper took the glue lines off . cut a wrap out of sign vinyl . pealed a turkey feather used gorilla super glue to spiral fletch it. came out ok. i think this is the way to go for revamping old woodies for stumping .
now i have not shot it yet but think it's going to shoot fine. ill see tomorrow afternoon.
i have a few bear arrows with 1964 razor tips and the feathers are bad moth eaten but the arrows are straight and in great shape. if this one shoots good i think I'm going to do them like this for pheasant hunting maybe turkey if they are fast enough should work out to 15 or so yards. now i know some of you wont think that the wraps belong on the woodies and to collect the bear arrows. but i think I'm going to shoot them insted of collecting them. the nocks, tips are tight and the shafts are like new never shot.
I'm going to sharpen them up and hunt with them if they shoot good out of the 52# gem longbow. they are 45/50 might work . i shot one the other day with a 357 shell for blunt out of the camp bow stumping.
i watched the flight of the white feathers and they went left to right about 3inches and hit where i pointed . might even try it out of the camp bow for turkey 37ish#'s should work good for turkey. i know there tuff but if the broadheads sharp and i put in the right place i should be fine. hope i get a shot to try it this saturday is first day.
I'm going to take my shotgun but leave it in the trunk till i try a shot with the bow. no hurry plenty of day to miss one but ifin you don't try it then you just never know
