Does anyone know....
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:59:38 PM »
What's the difference between a standard and featherweight pre-64 model 70.   Would a stock inletted for a featherweight fit a standard weight gun?

Thanks.

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

The FW was fitted with a barrel of slimmer contour than standard grade M70's, ergo, the FW stock's barrel channel is narrower, and IIRC the method of tie-down (front screw location) is also different.

Yep, the standard weight barrel is heavier, and it also has a "bulge" that the rear sight is dovetailed into. Should be a simple matter to open it up. Not sure about the forward action screw.
