I'm confused (as usual)
« on: December 28, 2003, 10:26:12 AM »
I just got my 10" 41 mag. barrel from Ed"s Contender"s. Now i'm not sure if i really need my 7-30  Waters barrel. I'm sure the 41 mag. will be just great for the whitetail deer hunting i do. Should i sell the Waters barrel and get some different barrel to play with? I already have Contender barrels in 22lr match, 17 Rem., 221 Fireball, 25-35, 300 Whisper and as i already said, 41 mad. and 7-30 Waters. Help me out folks.

now why would you do something silly like that!  it ain't eating no hay.  why would you sell it, and not any of the others? the 7-30waters has much more range than the 41mag. you may take a notion to hunt a different spot, or change your mind about which one you wanna use. heck, half the fun is trying to decide which one you're gonna pack. everyone should have a backup barrel.  :agree:  :yeah:

Shame on you :(   How could you even suggest such a thing :o
That would be like trying to choose between your children, which one will you keep and which one will you give away :(   Me thinks you need to ask for forgivness and mend your ways.

I think selling your 7-30 would be a big mistake.  I personally have one in the 10 inch barrel and out to 200 yards it is unbeliveable.  I would keep it if I were you.

What are you thinking!!!!  I have barrels in 17HMR, 22lr, 22 Hornet, 357 Max, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, 45/410, 375 Win and 375 Win.  A bunch of them calibers overlap.  Are they fun to shoot, you bet, that is why I keep them all.  Fun, and the fact that most of mine are 10" barrels which I like the best in the appropriate caliber and new ones are now a thing of the past.  I have sold a few over the years, so I could not fault you for doing it, but the 7-30 is one of the best calibers to be had in a factory barrel.  I think I would hold on to that one.

Sometimes I wish I'd kept all the barrels I've sold, but normally if I get the itch for something different and a barrel has been gathering dust for a year or more, I'll sell it to finance a new one.
My barrels are like girlfriends to a single guy, you love them for a while until something prettier comes along.
