Personal Opinions, & Observations of the "ROYAL" Wedding.
« on: April 29, 2011, 03:15:07 AM »
I got up this morning to watch the news and found that the NEWS is on a ticker at the bottom of the screen, and everyone is being "forced" to watch the "ROYAL" ::) wedding, on almost every channel, news or not. SO! After surfing them all, I sat back and gawked at the spectacle and made a few observations to this waste of air time. First! The white Anglo Saxon American floated several thousand miles on leaky wooden ships to get away from the "ROYAL" family and their high toned, heavy handed ways. Now it is on their TVs and it seems that many cannot get enough of the "Queen" ::).
SECOND! The "PRINCE", and his "PRINCESS" have been shacking up for over two years, and now their celebrating their carnality a little late as I see it, but to each his own, I suppose. As I listened to "FOX NEWS"  ::), narrate all this, I came to a THIRD thought, which was: I wonder what King Arthur and his court would think today, seeing a "rock star" (Paul McCartney), and a "queer rock star" being addressed as SIR PAUL, and SIR ELTON? What a sight that trio that would make. Sir Lancelot, Sir "Let it be", and Sir "Can my boyfriend come too", all sitting on their white chargers, in their shinning armor, possibly the latter in a pink to-to.
As I write this my wife just shouted from the other room, that the "ROYAL" ::) wedding is even on TV in MEXICAN! No one seems safe from this crap.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Why watch TV? There is a button to turn it off.

I couldn't care less about it, but I suppose it is interesting to some folks.  It's probably more fun than hearing about the latest crapola from the Obamanation regime.

Didn't watch it, don't care. Only thing that this brings to mind is, just like in our country, the money being spent on a charade as this, could feed, house, educate, a whole lot of people. Bunch of hypacrite's, in my opinion. gypsyman

What would King Arthur think? I dunno, but maybe he'd break into song:

The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.

Paul McCartney is a great talent; I think I'll put on the Concert for George right, or maybe Abbey Road. Elton John? Tremendous talent, and by most accounts a good & generous man. That his sexual preferences are what you choose to carp about says more about you than Elton (or Reg, or Sir Elton, whatever)
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I think it's a WONDEFUL thing!!!!  I'm sooo happy.   ;D

Oh....I actually don't give a crap about the wedding....who cares...non-story.  What makes me sooo happy is that the wife and my daughters are going to my sister's with some of her friends to watch the taped program and have "wedding cake."

My BIL and I are going to the gun dept at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine so that I can whack away at a $500 gift card!!!

I LOVE THE ROYALS!!!!

I found being pollitically UN- Correct usually puts me on the right side of the law, religeon, morals, and manners.

Dee, we all know you got up just to see what dress she was going to wear, and who was going to attend.    :o
I did not watch it this morning but I always find all the British uniforms interesting.
From the pictures on AOL while I was checking e-mail this morning he looks like the Drum Major from Valley Forge Military Acadamy.

Duck I can always count on you for a humorous remark. Although my satire was less than funny to some, I am sure some such as yourself saw my somewhat rough humor, and disgust at such a spectacle while England's economy goes down the toilet.
To further illustrate my backwardness in light of today's "style" and political correctness, my wife and I went to a friends "wake" the other day, and she strongly urged me to discard my starched and ironed Wranglers, boots, and hat for a brand new pair of dress shoes and slacks. I protested loudly, saying the deceased was a life long cattleman by trade, and hats and boots were the order of the day. Well, she prevailed and the new shoes and the slacks came out.
Needless to say, I felt like a goat at a cattle auction, when we got there, as I indeed had been correct. On the way home she admitted she was wrong and asked me if I had been comfortable. I told her no less comfortable had I been wearing a skirt, and blouse. Not that I had ever worn such an outfit.
The next day when I walked up on the stage at the funeral to sing Amazing Grace, I had on my boots, Wranglers, western cut dress jacket, and acoustic guitar. I was right in place. By the way the family paid for the funeral, and my part was free, so the government was not out a dime.
Although I have gone out of, and came back into style, many times in 61 years, I am not subject to change on my dressing habits, or my view of queers, regardless of any perceived talent, and hardly think an unearned title as a fighting man, should be awarded to a musician, let alone a queer musicians.

Dee,
Sorry to hear aboout your friend.
I agree with your wife, Dressing up for a wake or funneral is a sign of respect.
On the same note, if everyone knows it is jeans and boots, it's jeans and boots.
I never feel under or over dressed.  maybe it was Military school and if you were in Parade Dress and others were in sweats or school uniform you were just in that uniform till you could get into another and were never self concious of it.  It is what you are wearing and you should never let the uniform stop you from attending.  Heck I have attended company Christmas parties in jeans and a sport shirt when it was tie due to traffic, and I have sat in training classes for equipment in a suit, the clothes  did not matter, the event did.
The title crap has gone too political, much like the nobel prizes and are handed out more for donations rather then acomplishments.
Again it's England, and you have a good point we (I say that as I have ansestors that go back to Alander Hamilton and Comador Neilson) left English Rule as it was corrupt, un equal based on class under the law, and not based on merrit.
It was a spectical, some people care, others don't.  My guess is that the same vaccumeheaded people that ellect Democrats are the ones that care and that is who the Morning news shows are geared to with the fluff they put on and the mis directions by either not understanding the material or the political adgenda.  I figure the Wedding is more for the women, all their kid stories were about Prince Charming and becoming a Princess, and here is one that is now a Princess and all the cerimony to go with it.  If there was a ceramony where men got to be promoted to Huck Fin we would all want to watch.   8)

Never watched it although it was on dang near every channel. The idea of royalty make me sick. The french did the right thing with theirs. I was hoping to hear terrorists got every heir there is. They stole millions and billions from the people of britain and they are still put on a pedestal.

Good thread, Dee! Except for me picturing you in a skirt....... lol. George Washington refused to be American royalty and to wear a crown when he was asked to do so. Just those that watched the wedding, remember. We kicked them out and they stayed out. A chump in a fancy uniform can't compete with a man in the US with a well aimed musket, drinking river water, eating possums, and defending his land. The same arrogance you watched is why they lost everthing in their empire. But as long as they fund it the Royal Family will exist. Imagine if they had to get real jobs. Or any jobs at all.

Actually they do have civilian jobs. Obviously it doesn't hurt to be a member of the royal household when it comes to finding a job ;)

Our family (dad's MOM) gave up the Von long ago and shortened Von Hessedumastat to Hess.  But in Europe tha landed Gentry with the titles are usually broke and living off the title, so let them, if someone is willing to give some inbread aristocrat a free lunch, who cares and why do you need such a law?  More of the Nanny state.

Two young humans endured an immense and ridiculous spectacle to join their lives together in love today, for the sole reason of satisfying the age old craving for ceremony.

I wish them happiness, prosperity, good fortune, and many healthy children as a testament to their courage and faithfulness to each other.

In spite of all the useless ballyhoo, today was a good day for two people.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but that Kate is just a bit of a BABE.

 :)
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
