It's just too much work to make an octagon barrel on this little machine Matt, if I do one, I'd be obligated to do others, making those barrels was the closest to "work" I've done since I retired about 9yrs ago, don't intend on being employeed ever again.  ;D  I have an idea on how to make a burner, just need to take the time to do it, right now I'm turkey hunting at least one day a week.

Thanks,

Tim

After having the forend stud detach at the first round shot likely due to my attempt to "adjust" it a little after it was first attached by reheating it and just tweaking the position, I reinstalled it with silver solder and then, as an after thought, drilled and tapped it and added a couple 6-48 screws.

I don't think that stud will be going anywhere now.  BTW, are ya gonna post a pic of the 405 with the duct taped forestock? ::)

Tim,My question is; How did you get the fore end stud off in the first place?
Does Remington sell these? I have a barrel to repair also. G66

BB, no pics of duct taped forends will be posted by me, I promise!!  :D

G66, I removed the stud with a dremel cut off wheel, H&R doesn't sell the studs that I'm aware of.

I think that you can get the studs from Fastenal or McMaster Carr. I will try to post some part numbers. 26-t

A T-nut might work in a pinch, but the barrel is too small, McMaster does have weld nuts, but the barrel is too small on them too unless you go to a 5/16"-18 thread size on the screw which have 3/8" barrels instead of 5/16" on the ¼"-20.
