Single six sights
« on: April 30, 2011, 05:40:27 AM »
I am looking to upgrade the sights on my single six for hunting use, but I don't want to scope it. Any suggestions?

It already has quality open sights.  How about a red dot sight?

I think some of the first 22 cal models had fixed sights, and later model 32s had fixed sights. If I was you I would sell whatever you have with fixed sights and buy a good single six. Some folks fancy the old 22s and they might be worth more than you would think.

I assume your Single-Six has adjustable sights. If that is correct, you could replace the rear sight with a Bowen Target rear sight at a cost of about $90.00. If you want a Patridge front sight instead of a ramp, you can use the Ruger Patridge front sight for a Ruger Mk. III Target, which is available from the Prescott factory for less than $10.00.
If your gun has fixed sights, it can neither be readily nor inexpensively fitted with adjustable ones, nor with optics. The options are to sell it or be satisfied with what you have.

I replaced mine with a peep blade by one ragged hole

My own opinoin is that Ruger uses too wide a front site. I generall narrow mine by as much as half. Even with my poor vision and bifocals that is still plenty of site for me to see and it improves my accuracy significantly.
Just another worthless opinion!!
