Ported Barrels
« on: May 02, 2011, 02:57:38 AM »
This is not a poll, just asking likes or dislikes and why. Taurus ports the barrel on a lot of their Revolvers. I understand the advantages and disadvantages. I like it on some would rather not have it on others. What say y'all?

I do not like them on something like a 357 mag as far as I am concerned they do not kick enough to warrant them for recoil reduction and I do not like the extra noise they make.  I specificall refused to by a taurus 357 because of this feature and bought a Ruger GP 100 instead.

Well I feel the portings on the lighter framed handguns like the titanium Trackers, do help reduce the felt recoil.  I've shot and owned both the .44 Mag and .45 Colt versions of the Tracker, and yes the porting was a welcome feature.  Along with the Ribber Grip, I really enjoyed both of them, and plan to purchase the .41 or .44 Mag Tracker soon.
